Rob Agerbeek – guest pianist

Rob Agerbeek is regarded as one of Europe’s finest jazz pianists, covering the full spectrum of jazz styles from his early days of Boogie-woogie to Chicago traditional Jazz, swing and contemporary jazz.
In his remarkable career of more than 50 years, he has played with a wide range of top international musicians including American Jazz greats such as Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Ben Webster, Winton Marsalis, Nelson Wilson, Hank Mobley, Dexter Gordon, Clark Terry, Buddy Tate, Al Grey, Don Byas, Woody Shaw, Roy Hargrove and many others.  He has featured at the leading European Jazz Festivals and toured the world from the USA to Australia.

Rob has played for seven years with the legendary Dutch Swing College Band (DSC), has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival annually during the 70s and 80s alongside prominent American jazz musicians.  He joined the popular Diamond Five and later the Dixieland Pipers. Rob had his own quintet and quartet followed by the successful Rob Agerbeek Trio with which he has accompanied jazz singers such as Rita Reys, Adrienne West and Daisy Oosterhuis.

His discography of over 40 albums include a double LP with Dexter Gordon live at the Haagse Jazz Club, five CDs with the DSC and 10 recordings with his own bands.

Rob has performed live with old friends Adrienne West and Gaynel Hodge and recently as guest pianist together with the RTDP for the recording of  their new album ‘bout Time!
