Frans van Wasbeek – trumpet

Frans is well established in the Chicago style trad Jazz scene and has extended his styles to include swing, blues and the American Songbook repertoire.   He has played in various well-established bands such the Uralsky All Stars, the South African New Aces Jazz Band and the Dutch All Stars Jazz Band. He performed successfully over the years in leading line-ups for a wide range of jazz festivals in Europe and overseas including:

Europe: Jazz Festival Dresden (then in former East Germany),  Jazz festival Salgotarjan, Hungary (twice), Gniezno Festival (Gniezno, Poland), Golden Washboard (Warsaw, Poland), Jazz Festivals Bonn, Dillenburg, Gronau, Münster, Herford, Germany, Ninove, Gent, Dendermonde, Belgium, Copenhagen, lgië, IIand Liv, Odense, Denmark, Zürich, Basel, Bad Ragatz, Switzerland, Paris, Coutance, Saint Jean de Luz, Nimes, Gerardmer and Armentieres, France.

Overseas: Argentina: Hotel Mar del Plata, Jazz Club Buenos Aires, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala  and South  Africa: Jo’burg Jazz Club, Jazz Club Windhoek and  Jazz Club Cape Town.

Frans recorded various LPs en CDs with the Dutch All Stars Jazz Band, a band specially formed for concert tours abroad.  With them he featured at various jazz festivals and concert tours abroad including
a range of five jazz concerts in Poland every two years.

He achieved international recognition for many performances at  leading international jazz festivals and jazz clubs abroad in central Europe, Scandinavia, the UK, South Africa and Latin America. Joe Murany, former Louis Armstrong clarinet player said:  “It was nice playing with you in Salgotarjan, Hungary “great solo on ‘I Can’t Give You Anything But Love’!
